Why Do Animals Need Chloroplasts
Chloroplasts are present in photosynthetic plants and is responsible for making the food of the plantOn the other hand mitochondria also known as the power house of the cell uses this oxygen in order to create ATP which is used for various purposes like active transport releasing minerals and many more in plants.
Why do animals need chloroplasts. Though the plants can process sunlight and raw materials on their own through the chloroplasts without the mitochondria the plant wont have enough energy to do the same at night. After photosynthesis which chloroplasts are needed for which yields oxygen and glucose plants need to break down the glucose and they use cell respiration to. As plants make their own food they need chloroplasts but as animals rely on other organisms for food they do not need chloroplasts.
The organelles are only found in plant cells and some protists such as algae. Chloroplasts are the Organelles in Plant Cells which absorblight energy using chlorophyll and use this energy to react Waterand Carbon dioxide to form Glucose and Oxygen. After photosynthesis which chloroplasts are needed for which yields oxygen and glucose plants need to break down the glucose and they use cell respiration to.
Animal cells have no such organelles because they are heterotrophic and feed off other organisms. Chloroplasts are like mitochondria in animals. Like mitochondria chloroplasts have their own DNA.
1 Answer Harsh Nov 14 2015 Thats because animals are heterotrophic they cannot prepare their own food. Click to see full answer. Animal cells use mitochondria to convert food into energy and plant cells use both chloroplasts and mitochondria to make energy from light air and water.
Why do animal cells not need the same structures vacuoles cell walls and chloroplas that plant cells need. It would be better if we were able to use sunlight as a source of energy for metabolism. Chloroplasts come in various shapes with many of them shaped like disks.
Chlorophyll also helps make plants green. Animal cells have no such organelles because they are heterotrophic and feed off other organisms. Plants cells use photosynthesis from the sun which requires them to have chloroplast filled with chlorophyll to complete this function.
