Australia fires update rain. Ms Neville said 220 new blazes had started in. Relief is here for a number of firefighters. Heavy rains in the state of New South Wales this week contained the last of a series of deadly wildfires some of them lasting for months to plague Australia. That particular fire burned 499621 hectares of land.
The Yarra River in Melbourne turns brown as dust in the rain pours in from the north. The rains are not expected to end the drought or extinguish all the fires. Victorians have been given some relief as more bushfires have been brought under control and rain hit South Australia where 32 homes were destroyed.
